Borgo di Gaiole has been a market town since 1200 and is one of the five main Chianti towns within the Chianti Classico region. This area is a popular destination for people wanting to tour southern Chianti.
Evidence of its medieval origins are charactised by the numerous picturesque castles, which are dotted around the surrounding area. Traditionally these castles were used as lookout points, whilst today are wonderful spots to enjoy panoramic and breath-taking views.
